Food taboos are food and drinks that people don't eat or drink based on religous or cultual reasons. For example, muslims have to follw the Islamic Dietary Law, which seperates food in to halat lawful) and haram (unlawful) The Quran prohibits the consumption of meat from animals that die of themselves, blood, the meat of swine (porcine animals, pigs), and animals dedicated to other than Allah (either undedicated or dedicated to idols). However, they are allowed to consume "unlawful" food under extreme circumstances and there are no other alternatives. Hindis are prohimited from eating cows under any circumstances because cows are considered holy creatures by Hindis.
