Human migration is very important to the international society. Most people migrate from developing countries to developed countries and from rural areas to urban areas to seek more job opportunities. Immigrants can contribute to the increase of workforce in the host country. Job vacancies can bee filled, and services can be maintained. Migrants can also bring cultural diversity to the host countries. The host country can collect taxes from these workers. The country where the migrants origin from can benefit remittances, which is money that migrants send to their family. Unemployment will be reduced since more people are seeking jobs in other countries. However, they will face the issue of brain drain, which is the emigration of intelligent, well-educated people to other countries to seek for better pay, opportunities, and conditions. As a result, they lose the most intelligent people are skilled workers. For example, Sub-Saharan African countries lose a total of $2 billion dollars in training doctors who left their country to work in more prosperous developed countries.
Most of the migrants move for economic prosperity and job opportunities. Approximately 1.3 million migrant workers work in the agricultural industry in the United States. They earn menial wages and have to perform long hours of hard outdoor labor. Migrant workers, especially those who are undocumented don't have health care and are often exploited by their employers because they do not understand the local laws and their rights. Despite all the disadvantages that migrants may face in the country they migrate to, there are still a lot of people who want to migrate for the advantages of migration. Most people migrate for better economic opportunities, the host country that more migrants migrate to usually have more job opportunities or pay workers higher wages. For example, Mexicans migrate to the United States for job opportunities and better pay. Their children have the chance to receive an education in the United States, which is generally better than the education in Mexico. Their children will have more opportunities to become economically successful.
Undocumented immigrants in the United States live very different lives in different states. In California, most of them can live without fear of arrest and deportation. However, some other states perform large scale arrests of undocumented immigrants. Some time their human rights are abused in the process of arresting, detention and deportation. The president of the United States- Barack Obama announced last month that some undocumented immigrants will be eligible to apply to work visas. However, this doesn't end the hostility towards undocumented immigrants and is not a long term solution.
